  • Red Chilli Rest Camp

Red Chill Rest Camp in Murchison Falls National Park boasts of a superb location near the park headquarters at Para just across the bridge in the south. It offers budget accommodation some with en-suite showers and others with shared hot baths.

Red Chilli Rest Camp presents its accommodation in traditionally built and furnished safari tents and bandas. It has a good camping facility with modern showers, toilets, private cooking area and security lighting. It’s also another good place for backpackers.

Red Chilli Rest Camp offers restaurant services to its guests and other park visitors. It serves an a la carte breakfast and lunch menu daily. An onsite fully stocked bar is open daily until midnight.

The park’s wildlife is not restricted from visiting Red Chilli Rest Camp premises unannounced. Hippos, warthogs and others can be spotted right at the Camp. Above all, its location commands spectacular views out towards the great Nile River.

  • UWA Public Campsite

The UWA Public Camp site and Bandas were established by the Uganda Wildlife Authority to make a visit to Murchison Falls National Park affordable to low budget travelers. It is situated in the northern sector of the park with full nice views of the river below and great chances to see wildlife. The campsite offers self-contained bandas and a good ground for DIY camping tourists.

  • Shoebill Campsite

The Shoebill Camp site at the rim of Murchison Falls National Park offers low budget accommodation and a camping site overlooking the mighty Nile. It is named after the Shoebill Stork that can be spotted at the Albert Delta in the park. It is a great spot to unwind after a game drive safari in the park.

It has no onsite restaurant and so requires a visitor to carry own food and cooking facilities. There is however a restaurant at the main lodge located three minutes from the campsite. Meals are available to those who find it hard to hire a chef or even organise for themselves.

How to get to Murchison Falls National Park

By road from Kampala capital city, it is approximately 5-6 hours of driving and an hour if you take a flight from Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airstrip to Pakuba airstrip. Access to Murchison Falls National Park can be through the southern gates of Kichumbanyobo or Masindi South. The northern gates are Tangi, Wankwa and Purungo. The location of your budget accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park should therefore guide you on the gate through which to access and exit the park. Enter through the gates at the south if your immediate activity or place of stay is in the southern sector of the park, and vice versa.
