Everything on this 5 Days Kidepo valley safari, Sipi Falls & Rhino Tracking tour is eye-catching and exciting right from the en route views of Mabira natural Forest, the tea and Sugar plantations, River Nile, Lake Victoria, the Sipi waterfalls, Elgon Mountain ranges, the hills in Kapchorwa, Karamoja plains, among others. The tour involves a visit to the Sipii waterfalls, the abundant and unique wildlife of Kidepo Valley Park and the amazing Rhino tracking activity at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Day 1 – Kampala – Sipi Falls via Jinja City.

Your driver will find you at your hotel ready for the adventure. After exchanging pleasantries, hand him your safari bags to have them packed in the safari vehicle. Set off time shall be 7.00am or even earlier in anticipation of the heavy traffic jam on the Kampala-Jinja highway. En route to Sipii falls, you will drive through Mabira Forest, have great views of the tea and sugar plantations, River Nile and Lake Victoria, among others.

A quick stop in Jinja for a boat ride to the source of the Nile River is an option. Proceed via Mbale town and reach Kapchorwa in the afternoon/evening. Evening walk/hike to the 3 water falls of Sipii. Retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Lacam Lodge – Budget, Rafiki Lodge – Mid range, Sipii River Lodge – Upper mid range.

Day 2 – Sipii Falls – Kidepo Valley Park.

The drive to Kidepo Valley Park from Sipii will take you between 6 and 7 hours. Have an early breakfast and get ready to leave at 7.00am. You will have lunch after checking in at the lodge. Refresh and rest after lunch as you wait to go for an evening game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Game drive, Hotsprings tour and Karamajong Community visit.

Rise up early for breakfast before setting out for the magnificent views of the savanna grasslands in which the animals graze and hunt. Be on the look out for wildlife scenarios to have a story to tell after the exciting game drive. Kidepo Valley Park never disappoints interms of animal views, it has some animals which can not be found in other national parks of Uganda besides having them in large numbers.

Expect to see Cheetahs, elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Zebras, many antelopes, birds including the Ostrich, among others. Rest at the lodge before lunch and in the evening return to the game trails for more chances on the animals. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 4 – Karamajong Community visit and drive to Kitgum.

Check out after breakfast and drive to the Karamajong Manyattas for a cultural encounter. Karamajongs are some of the few tribes in Africa who are still proud of their cultural heritage. They don’t stage themselves for tourists but how you will find them is their traditional way of life. Even the free education from the government has not had a big impact on their cultural authenticity.

After many stories and experiences with the Karamajong communities, you will embark on your drive to Kitgum town. Check into Boma Hotel and stay at leisure for the rest of the evening.

Day 5 – Rhino Tracking and return to Kampala.

Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary through Gulu town and via the Karuma falls. Make a quick stop after the bridge to view the falls. Get back into the car and drive to the Sanctuary. This time, you will go into the bushes on foot with the site rangers to look for the Rhinos. After tracking, you will have lunch at the Sanctuary restaurant or at Kabalega Diners before you again start the drive to Kampala / Entebbe airport. A drop off at the hotel or at Entebbe airport will be the end of the trip.
