Furthermore, the Nile River leaves the park with spectacular waterfalls of Murchison and for which it is named. Program for the 2 Days Budongo Chimpanzees and Top of Murchison Falls Tour
Day 1 – Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
At 6.30am from an agreed location or your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe, your driver/guide from Jungle Escape Africa shall be set to start the journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Routing via Masindi town, access the park through Kichumbanyobo gate and drive straight to the top of Murchison Falls. What is called the Top of Murchison Falls is a bewildering spectacle that mere words can hardly explain!
In summary, the Nile with all its might funnels itself through a 7-8 meter gorge culminating into a loud roar as the water forcefully moves back and forth eventually dropping to 43 meters forming a permanent pool down. Through a small pathway at the side of the falls, you can have a slightly elevated view towards the falls and more photo opportunities. The top of the falls is also a vantage point to admire the amazing scenery particularly for the Nile as it stretches away to the West, the rainbow arches, beautiful birds and other park scenic spots. Drive back to Kaniyo Pabidi section of Budongo Forest to rest before dinner at the lodge.
Day 2 – Chimpanzee trekking and return to Kampala/Entebbe
Wake up for the second day of the 2 Days Budongo Chimpanzees and Top of Murchison Falls Tour, have an early breakfast and walk to Budongo Forest offices for briefing to prepare you for the Chimpanzee encounter. Follow your assigned ranger/guide as he/she leads you to locate the Chimpanzees in the forest. Also, expect other primates like the Baboons, Black and White Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys and others to cross your path during your search for the Chimpanzees. Birds too, are in plenty except the big fierce animals like elephants and buffaloes that are only spotted occasionally.
Another beauty of the Chimp trek is the wealth of information (shared by the guides) not only about the Chimpanzees but also the floral species(trees), the forest history in connection with the ancient traditional kings and the park at large. After locating the Chimpanzees, you have an hour of following them in conformity with the stipulated trekking rules. Walk out of the forest to embark on your drive back to Kampala after lunch in Masindi town. The end.
