The 3 Days Flying Safari to Murchison Falls National Park shall involve a return flight to Murchison Falls National Park from Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airstrip in the morning or afternoon, game drives in the park, top of the falls excursion and a boat cruise up to the falls base. Once Kabalega Falls National Park, Murchison Falls National Park is the largest and oldest conservation area in Uganda found in the north western parts of the country. The park protects a chunk of untamed African savannah hosting about 76 species of mammals, 451 birds and a variety of floral species. It is also home to the world’s strongest waterfalls – The Murchison Falls, a remarkable feature in this park formed after when the mighty River Nile explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley Escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Whereas the park can be accessed by both road and air from Kampala or Entebbe airport, taking a flight reduces travel time by about 4 or 5 hours.
Day 1 – Flight to Murchison Falls National Park
This day shall start off with a pick up from your hotel for a transfer to Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airstrip to catch a flight to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival at Pakuba or Bugungu airstrip, you shall be picked up by your driver from Jungle Escape Africa and transfer to your lodge with in Murchison Falls National Park. Arriving with a morning flight, and on this same day, we can drive to the top of the falls for the spectacularly and dramatically wonderful waterfalls of Murchison that were named after Murchison Roosevelt, the then president of the Royal Geographical society. Check into your preferred lodge after the top of the falls excursion, have lunch and rest until the evening game drive time. Return to the lodge after the game drive.
Day 2 – Game drive in Murchison Falls National Park and boat launch cruise
As animals make their distinct sounds while welcoming the light of the day, wake up to have a delicious breakfast amidst those jungle melodies. Drive towards their calls but through established game trails where you should be on the lookout for lions, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, many antelopes, Patas monkeys, among others. Immense concentrations of hippos and birds can be spotted especially at the Albert Delta and during a boat ride to the falls bottom. A Game drive experience in Murchison Falls National Park is greatly enhanced by the super abundance of wildlife and the scenic landscape. Just know the drive in the park is an experience in itself, let alone the awing views of animals still walking around wild! Return to the lodge after the amazing game drive to rest before lunch.
In the afternoon after lunch, drive down to the pier/dock on River Nile and get on a boat to ride you towards the foot of Murchison Falls. To constantly catch the eye during this launch trip are large hippos in water, the giant Nile crocodiles at the river banks, many birds, elephants and other animals playing or grazing by the river banks. The highlight shall be the incredible and full views of the roaring and groaning Nile River after it forces itself through a canyon less than 10 meters wide. Return to your lodge after the boat ride to refresh and have some rest before dinner.
Day 3 – Fly back to Entebbe
Wake up and have breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. Transfer to your hotel or keep at the airport incase of an onward flight.
