3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari through Akagera national park, the biggest national park in Rwanda covering 1085 square kilometers on the northern edge of the country. Akagera National park is blessed with diverse habitats which harbour a variety of wildlife. A game drive through the Savannah plains and a boat ride on Lake Ihema offer sightings of animals such as Buffalo, Giraffe, Elephants, Antelopes, Hippos, Crocodiles.
Day 1 – Kigali – Akagera National Park, Game Drive
After you have had breakfast, the driver guide shall pick you up from the hotel in Kigali at about 8am and travel to Akagera National Park. You shall arrive before lunch, check in at the hotel and relax. Have lunch at the lodge, you shall then do a late afternoon game drive in the park for a chance to catch some big game and also view the spectacular African sunset over beautiful wilderness. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – Early Game Drive, Afternoon Boat Ride on Lake Ihema
Have an early cup of tea/coffee with a snack and then head out for the morning Game Drive into the park. It will start at 7:00 am, a good time to catch the nocturnal species, and the all the Big game out feeding. Bird-life is also at its best around this time. Some of the wildlife you should expect include Giraffes, Zebras, Buffaloes, Warthogs, several species of antelopes such Impala, Topi, and Reedbuck. Leopards do occur but very elusive! After four hours, return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. After lunch, you shall do a boat safari on Lake Ihema to view some aquatic wildlife, and several other game that could have come to drink and take a shower. Crocodiles and Hippos cannot be missed! There are also lots of water birds. Thereafter return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Akagera National Park – Kigali
After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kigali, drop-off at the hotel.
