This 5 days Rwanda Primates safari with gorilla, chimpanzee and golden monkey tracking transfers you to Rwanda’s Nyungwe Forest National Park commonly known for Chimpanzee tracking, Congo Nile Trail walk and canopy walk, and also go to volcanoes national park for golden monkey tracking and Gorilla trekking activity as will be having an hours time to interact with the giant shy Mountain Gorillas.
Day 1 – Kigali – Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, travel out of Kigali, driving southwest to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You have lunch en-route. Check in at your hotel and relax away the rest of the day.
Day 2 – Chimpanzee Tracking, Canopy Walk
After breakfast, report to one of the park’s ranger stations for registration and briefing at 7.0am. Thereafter transfer to one of the trails leading into the forest and start the trek to track the habituated Chimpanzees. After finding them and observing them for the stipulated hour, return and transfer back to the hotel for lunch.
At about 2:30 pm, return to the park for the Canopy walk experience. Meet the rangers at the Uwinka Visitors Office for registration and briefing and thereafter walk into the forest to start the canopy walk. The walkway offers magnificent views of the forest and easy sighting of a number of wildlife. Return and drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Nyungwe – Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, check out and embark on the drive northwards to Volcanoes National Park. Lunch is en-route. Check in at you accommodation overlooking the spectacular Virungas. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4 – Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes National Park
Have early breakfast, get your packed lunch from the lodge and transfer to the park offices by 7.30 for the allocation of Mountain Gorilla groups and briefing by the rangers. At 8:00 am transfer to the start of the trek, and get into the forest to find the Mountain Gorillas. After a wonderful adventure, return and transfer to the hotel.
Day 5 – Golden Monkey Tracking, Travel to Kigali
Early breakfast once again and transfer to the park offices to register for yet another exciting adventure in Volcanoes National Park, that is, Golden Monkey tracking. After the briefing, transfer to the start of the trek and start the search for these attractive monkeys. After the activity return and depart for Kigali City for the end of the trip.
