4 Days Kibale Chimpanzee tracking and Queen Elizabeth Park Safari is a primate and wildlife tour in two Uganda Parks. Kibale is the Primate capital of the world because of the highest population of Chimpanzees and other primates. On the other hand, Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to about 95 mammal species and more than 600 recorded bird-species. The Park has the highest mammal record and bird species beating all the other nine National Parks and the ten game reserves in Uganda. On this 4-day trip, we shall do Chimpanzee tracking, Bigodi wetland tour, a boat ride on Kazinga Channel and game drives to see the animals. Optional activities like lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth Park and Igongo Cultural Museum Tour can be included in the itinerary but at an extra cost.
4 Days Kibale Chimpanzee tracking and Queen Elizabeth Safari itinerary
Day 1: Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park, evening Bigodi Walk
At 8.am at your residence in Kampala, you will be met by our driver from Jungle Escape Africa. After briefing and individual introduction, get on board and start your journey to Kibale via Mubende and Fort portal towns. Check into your lodge, have lunch and some rest. In the evening, step out and visit Bigodi wetland for a walk that takes about 2-3 hours. Deep into Bigodi wetland sanctuary are 8 primate species, over 200 bird species, various reptiles and different butterflies. The walk also involves an interaction with the local communities from whom you get to learn about their day today lives. Return to the lodge in the evening and sort out your trekking gear for tomorrow’s chimpanzee adventure. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Morning Chimpanzee tracking, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early morning breakfast, drive to the park headquarters with your lunch boxes, to attend briefing before proceeding to the forest for Chimpanzee trekking. This trek provides an exciting opportunity to track Chimpanzees in a park with the highest population of Primates in the whole world. In the company of experienced park rangers and guides, you will get to the forest to look for a Chimpanzee family. Observing a multitude of primates, bird species and other mammals in the forest enhances the overall trekking experience. You will be allowed one hour to photograph and observe the Chimpanzees as they play, feed, socialize and groom their young ones. Trek out of the forest after your time with the Chimps and embark on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Exit Kibale heading for a short but a very scenic drive with views of captivating landscapes – the crater lakes, green hills, water streams and the Rwenzori Mountain ranges. You will stop at the Kikorongo Equator monument for some photo moments. Continue to the lodge after an evening game drive with in the park. Check in, refresh and enjoy your dinner.
Day 3: Sunrise-game drive, afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat cruise
Wake-up to the sounds of nature, get on board and embark on a sunrise game drive. The vast savannah plains, swamps and forests of Queen Elizabeth are home to about 95 mammals and over 600 bird-species. Look-out for lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, bushbucks, cape buffaloes and waterbucks among others. We shall utilize a network of trails to access animal habitats and create more avenues for you to see and experience as much as nature shall make available.
After lunch, transfer to the pier/dock to arrive on time for your afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. A thread of water that joins lakes George and Edward, Kazinga Channel is lifeline/habitat to Nile Crocodiles, arguably the highest concentration of Hippos on planet Earth. Different species of Egrets, Goliath Herons, Saddle-billed Storks, African Fish Eagles, Egyptian Gees and Cormorants among other bird species can easily be spotted. The channel is a source of water for Elephants, buffaloes and many other bird-species. Return to the dock and exploit the remaining part of the day in the wild with a brief game drive.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kampala
Leisurely breakfast at the lodge, check out and embark on the drive back to Kampala via Mbarara and Masaka cities. Lunch en route and there will be a stop at the Uganda Equator monument for the middle of the earth water experiment. Reach Kampala in the evening.
